The Gary Player Drill One drill that is brilliant to help improve your sequencing is the Gary Player Drill. Until you get the hang of this, don’t do it with a golf ball. Take your stance with your feet together. Then swing to the top of your backswing and stop. The next move is the key part. You need to step forward with your lead foot first, then let your body unwind, and then let your arms and club come through after. Where people get this wrong is, they try to step and swing the club at the same time. It doesn’t matter how long you are paused at the top of the swing for, just make sure you step with your lead foot first. See the short video below for a demonstration. You can see how I step to the left then the rest of the body follows, creating the correct sequence, give it a go and let us know how you get on. |
