Course management

I hope everyone enjoyed watching The Masters and watching a very exciting final round that could have been won by lots of different players. In the end Tiger Woods won by a single shot to win his first Major in 11 years. Often it is difficult to learn anything from watching these very good players that hit the ball such a long way. However, in this case I think there is a great lesson to be learned from Tiger Woods performance, course management.

The Masters all changed on hole 12, where Molinari, Finau, Kopeka and Poulter all found the water. Tiger did not because instead of being drawn towards hitting at the flag, he played for the middle of the green and made his Par. Tiger then played away from the flag on the 13th and made his birdie and played for the middle of the green on the 15th to make his birdie. The lesson here is that often the Middle of the green is the best place to be and going straight for a flag on the edge of a green leaves very little margin for error and can punish the slightest mistake.

Coaching Dates

The next Seniors Group Session will take place on Thursday 9th May at 10am. This session will cover a variety of different short game shots and awkward lies around the greens.

The cost for the session is £5 per person and the signup sheet is located in the Gents Changing Room.

Odyssey Stoke Lab putters

Let the battle commence
