This week has us hugely excited as the U.S. Open takes place at Pebble Beach. With this in mind, we have a fantastic trip down memory lane for you all with our Video of the Week, we preview the year's third Major and we recap Rory's magnificent victory at last week's Canadian Open.

Tour news

Rory's rapturous round

Rarely, do we see players threaten (or reach) the magical 59 score in Tour-level golf.

So, when McIlroy flirted with exactly this during Sunday's final round of the Canadian Open - whilst being in contention from the start - it was one impressive feat.

The Northern Irishman needed to birdie his final hole for a 59 and was in prime position when his drive split the fairway, only to miss the green with his approach and finish up with a bogey.

Still, McIlroy's magical 61 was more-than-enough to claim his second PGA Tour title of 2019 (as well as eight other top 10s) ahead of this week's U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Talk about timing.

US Open 2019

The US Open takes place this week at Pebble Beach Golf Course. The course is known for its small greens and thick rough so there will be a premium on good ball striking. However, the US Open is as much a mental test as a physical challenge and the winner will be able to put mistakes and bad breaks behind them. Based on this, my pick for the week is Dustin Johnson.

Junior Academy

The Hayling Junior Academy has started for children over 5 looking to get into golf. The sessions take place on a Sunday afternoon1pm – 2pm. During the sessions all aspects of the game are covered with the aim of introducing the basics of the technique and how to adapt them in a variety of situations that they can be faced with on the golf course.

Club Championship

The start sheet for the Club Championship first round on Saturday 15th June is available to view online. The draw for the second round will be done on Saturday evening once play has finished. Play on the Sunday will be in reverse score order i.e. Highest score goes out first and lowest score last. On both days please collect your scorecards from the Professional Shop and sign in prior to your round.

Titleist has released 2 new drivers to go alongside the TS2 and TS3. The TS4 driver features a smaller 440cc head and sits slightly open. This driver is a very low launching and low spinning head, aimed at low handicappers and professionals.
